The humid Balinese air wrapped around us like a warm hug as we stepped out of the airport, my three energetic kids – aged 10, 12, and 17 – buzzing with excitement. Our destination? The Jaykarta Hotel in the lively heart of Legian. I had a feeling this family escape was going to be special, and Jaykarta didn't disappoint from the get-go.
The hotel was a welcome sanctuary after our journey. Lush tropical gardens provided a beautiful backdrop, a calming contrast to the kids' initial bursts of energy. Check-in was smooth, the staff offering us refreshing welcome drinks that were particularly appreciated by my slightly travel-weary crew.
Our room setup was perfect for a family. We had spacious connecting rooms, giving us both togetherness and a little bit of personal space – a crucial element when traveling with teenagers! The balconies overlooked the inviting pool area, immediately sparking debates about who would get the first swim. The Balinese touches in the décor added a lovely local feel, and the comfortable beds were definitely a hit after long days of exploring.
The central pool area quickly became the heart of our vacation. It was large enough for everyone to find their own corner of fun. The younger two were in and out of the water like little fish, while my 17-year-old appreciated having space to chill on a lounger with their headphones. The swim-up bar was a treat for me (virgin cocktails for the younger ones, of course!), allowing me to keep an eye on everyone while enjoying a refreshing drink.
Meal times were surprisingly stress-free at the hotel's restaurant. The buffet breakfast was a lifesaver, catering to everyone's different tastes – from picky eaters to adventurous palates. Evenings were relaxed, with a good mix of Indonesian and international dishes ensuring everyone found something they loved. Dining al fresco under the twinkling stars became a cherished family ritual.
What truly made our stay special was the incredible staff. They were so warm and accommodating, always ready with a smile and a helpful suggestion. They even engaged with the kids, offering high-fives and making them feel welcome. Their genuine kindness made a real difference to our family dynamic.
And the location? Absolutely fantastic for a family! Jaykarta Hotel Legian is just a short, easy walk to Legian Beach. We spent glorious hours building sandcastles (which were promptly destroyed by the tide!), trying beginner surf lessons (hilarious for all involved!), and simply enjoying the breathtaking sunsets together. The nearby shops and restaurants offered a vibrant taste of Balinese life, and it was easy to pop out for ice cream or souvenirs.
Traveling with three kids can sometimes feel like a juggling act, but Jaykarta Hotel Legian provided the perfect base for a relaxed and fun-filled family adventure. There was something for everyone, from the lively pool to the easy beach access and the welcoming atmosphere. We left Bali with sun-kissed skin, happy memories, and a unanimous agreement: we need to come back to Jaykarta Hotel Legian once again! It’s a place where families can truly connect and create unforgettable moments together.
